It often takes a weight loss program to re-educate our eating habits and maintain a well-balanced diet, and in this program the presence of rich levels of protein is fundamental to its performance. But what is protein and what is its role?
Protein is a chain of amino acids. It is one of the fundamental components of all
living tissues, particularly of muscular tissue – hence we say that a protein is the
“muscle food”.
In a normal diet there are two types of proteins: animal-origin (i.e meat, fish,
eggs, dairy products) and vegetal-origin (i.e Cereals, vegetables).
The advantage of animal protein is that it gives us all the essential Amino Acids
necessary in optimal proportions to the maintain and growth of the tissue.
Put simply, proteins takes part in building, renewing and maintaining healthy
Tissues. A weight loss program rich in protein can:
- Help to prevent muscular loss
- Delay the feeling of hunger
This allows the body to reach the desired weight quickly, whilst keeping muscule tone and fitness.
Another essential play of the protein is to improve the body silouhette while changing the balance between fat and muscles (it means less fat in a more tonic body). As the muscles hold our skin, proteins allow to strenghten the skin while improving the muscular tone.
IMPORTANT: As everyone’s physic and way of life is different, we strongly recommend that before embarking on a weight loss program you discuss your plans with a doctor or dietician.
