A few decades ago, the L-Carnitine was found. Many years after, some researchers discovered that the L-Carnitine had the power to stimulate the level of fat burning ! This observation enhanced some deeper clinical researches into the possible applications of the L-Carnitine so that, nowadays, owing to the more and more numerous scientific testimonies, it is largely known that the L-Carnitine plays a crucial role into the cardiovascular metabolism, sports performances, weight management, child nutrition and cerebral wellbeing.

In simple words, the L-Carnitine acts as a receptor, as a substance stocking the fatty acids activated into the cell metabolism and then the L-Carnitine effectively acts into the decreasing of the fats and the energy production.

Principally, fat is made of three fatty acids linked to an alcohol molecule. Energy production requires the fatty acids to be taken from the cell cytosol towards the mitochondria for a ß-oxydation.

One of the most fundamental roles of the L-Carnitine is to carry the long chain fatty acids towards the membrane of the mitochondria. Inside this mitochondria, the fatty acids are broken up and finally the energy is produced. Therefore, the L-Carnitine is essential for the fat metabolism and the energy production !

The secondary function of the L-Carnitine is to convey short chain fatty acids from the inside mitochondria towards the cytosol. This desintoxication action of the L-Carnitine is quite important because it enables to go on burning fats and producing energy inside the mitochondria.
